It’s all about literal recognition of a writer’s oeuvre!

The debate rages on.

What is the value of the literary prize and why do we need these prizes? The foreign (Western) prizes seem to be a stepping stone for young writers in Africa. The Western editors and prize-givers bestow their blessings on someone who is elevated to the class of upcoming and talented writers.

Someone (Rasna Warah) who watched the prize-giving in Oxford (England) of the Cain Prize has put her thoughts to paper.
